BSNL Ties Up with Cable TV Operators To Provide Broadband Connection

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Karimnagar district unit had tied up with the local cable operator to provide cable television network, landline phone, broadband and voice calls to its customers under the Fibre to the home (FTTH) programme.

Formally launching the FTTH services provided by Guru Cable operators in the town on Monday, the BSNL Karimnagar General Manager said that the Guru Cable operators, who are already providing cable television services to the customers, will now provide broadband, landline and voice calls through the same fibre cable. The FTTH service would ensure that the customers could get the BSNL broadband services at high speed with the installation of a special modem costing ₹ 3,500, he said.

The BSNL would be providing billing to the customers and the Guru Cable operator would provide wiring and take up other maintenance. The BSNL would be sharing 60% of the revenue and the cable operator 40%. He said that the FTTH which was made of optic fibre cable would provide good broadband speed to the customers. The FTTH plans include Fibre Combo ULD CS50 plan ₹ 645 per month wherein the customer would get unlimited data with a speed of 15 Mbps up to 75 GB and unlimited free calling to any network on all Sundays and 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on all other days.

Similarly, Fibro Combo ULD CS51 plan of ₹ 1,045 per month would ensure unlimited data with speed of 40 Mbps up to 100 GB and unlimited free calling on all Sundays and night calling on all other days. The customers could get unlimited voice calling to any network with voice pack of ₹ 98 per month.

The GM also said that they were planning to launch its own 4G plus wi-fi hotspot services for the customers at hot spot zones in 15 locations in the town very soon. In order to increase its customer base, the BSNL had also decided to conduct mega melas from May 11 to 13 at 50 locations in entire district and provide free SIM card to the customers.
