Broadcasters have approached the Haryana Government to look into the matter. Following which, the investigations have now been handed over to the state CB-CID. Notably, there are only three authorised officers who are empowered under the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act to take action against the violators – the police chief of the district, sub-divisional magistrate and district magistrate. The CB-CID will work in coordination with these officers. Meanwhile, special officers are being trained to break the nexus of cable TV piracy. Around 25 police inspectors from across Haryana were trained on Wednesday for the same. The training session was held in Digital Investigation Training and Analysis Centre (DITAC) in Gurugram. They learnt the ways to identify the location, trace the accused and conduct raids.
“We are monitoring and devising a plan to control it. Intelligence wing of Haryana police will guide and supervise the district police who will take necessary action on the complaints received,” said Anil Kumar, inspector-general of police, CB-CID, Haryana.
