TRAI Ushers In New Era For TV Viewers.
It was brought to the notice of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India that new Framework may not be implemented due to the stay granted by Hon’ble High Court of Kolkata. TRAI filed an application in Hon’ble High Court of Kolkata requesting for vacation of stay & after hearing Hon’ble High Court vacated the stay on 31st January, 2019.
Subscribers / viewers who have not yet exercised their choice are requested to contact their service providers to register their choices without any further delay to continue to watch their favourite TV channels without any inconvenience. Distributors have been requested to plan the migration processes for TV viewers / Subscribers with no / least inconvenience whatsoever.
Subscribers / TV viewers may note that the new regime empowers them to change their choices whenever they desire with maximum lock-in period of one month. The Subscribers can always request their DPOs (MSOs & DTH Operators) to modify their selection even after choosing any package at present as per the press note released from TRAI.
