Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India has released a press release on super cyclonic storm AMPHAN over west central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclone is likely to move nearly northwards across the Bay of Bengal & Cross West Bengal, Bangladesh coasts between Digha (West Bengal) & Hatiya Islands (Bangladesh) close to Sundarbans during the Afternoon / Evening of 20th May 2020 as an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm with maximum 175 kmph to 185 kmph speed.
Heavy rain falls over Khordha & Puri districts on 19th May & north Odisha (Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Keonjhar Districts) expected on 20th May and Howrah, Hooghly & kolkata city on 21st May. Light to moderate rainfall is expected at Assam & Meghalaya also on 21st May.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into west-central & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours,
to central Bay of Bengal on 19th May and into North Bay of Bengal during 19th to 20th May 2020.
Government requested to all local cable operators to take all precautions before cyclone hits.
It is recommended to keep all necessary cable tv equipments like fibre, splicing machines, nodes for emergency services.
Extensive damage expected to all types of kutcha houses, power poles, rail/road link at several places,
standing crops, plantations, orchards, Uprooting of large trees & more.
