MIB Approved 15 & Cancelled 21 TV Channel Licenses

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has granted 15 new TV channel licenses in the last 6 months and has cancelled 21 TV channel licenses in the last 5  months.

The total number of valid permissions stands at 908 and the total cancelled TV channel licenses are 280.

Star has got three licenses Vijay Music through its subsidiary Asianet Star Communications besides Star Sports 1 Malayalam and Star Gold 2 in place of Movies OK.

News Nation Network has received three licenses namely News State Bihar/Jharkhand, News State Maharashtra/Goa and News State Rajasthan. Dharampal Satyapal Ltd has got the approval to launch Utkrisht News Samachar Plus Rajasthan and Utkrisht News Samachar Plus Uttar Pradesh/Uttrakhand.

B4U Television Network has received the license to launch B4U Hitz and B4U Plus. Incidentally, the company had earlier surrendered two licenses under the same name.

Metronation Chennai Television has got the license under the name Malar TV. The company also holds another license under the name Thanthi TV.

Ishwar Bhajan (Ishwar Media), Love World (Love India Entertainment) and TV 100 National (Avanti Media) received licenses in October and their licenses got cancelled in the same month as they didn’t require the licenses.

Zee Media Corporation’s four licenses have been cancelled as the company doesn’t require them. Similarly, Mahuaa Media’s five licenses have been revoked. Shop CJ Network, which has merged with HomeShop18, has seen two of its licenses getting cancelled.
