Supreme Court Monitoring Committee Ordered To Retrieve Government Land in Delhi Areas

A monitoring committee of Supreme Court held a meeting on sealing operations and retrieval of Government & Delhi Development Authority (DDA) land  in certain places of Delhi.

As per discussion in minutes of the meeting, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has directed to take immediate action against some illegal properties, and execute strong action against shop owners at Connaught Place. These shop owners constructed the basement illegally which violates the rules.

The Supreme Court Monitoring Committee has given reminder notice to the heads of local bodies to take effective action against such Restaurants & Gyms in the same place.

Some farm houses and motels are running in violation of provisions of MPD-21 and also used for social marriages & functions. Dy. Commissioners already sent several notices to these violators but no action was taken against them.

Punjabi Bagh Club was inspected by the monitoring committee on 9 th April , 2019 and found large scale unauthorized construction and misuse in the premises.

The committee has directed all the commissioners of Corporations to seal the property & take necessary action  as per law and submit ATR to the said committee within one month.

The Monitoring committee also directed all three corporations to remove illegal constructions / structures in certain area of Sarojini Nagar,  Main Rajouri Garden Market, Kishangarh, ‘O’ Zone (Zakir Nagar, Jaitpur, Meethapur, Shainbagh) and retrieve Government land.

A large number of shops and showrooms have come up on the M.G Road near Ghitorni. The vehicles are parked on the road sides which are creating huge traffic jam.  Commissioner SDMC and Jt. commissioner of Police (Western Range) / Nodal Officers are directed to resolve the issue and submit ATR to the Monitoring Committee within 15 days.
