Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu has inaugurated a cable TV company Arunachal Cable Communication and also launched an English daily ‘The Arunachal Herald’.
“Inaugurated the Arunachal Cable Communications today, which will provide HD quality Digital Cable TV services across the state. Also launched a new English daily ‘The Arunachal Herald’ published from Naharlagun,” Khandu posted on his Facebook page.
Khandu said the launch of digital cable services give a boost to local news and entertainment channels. He also stated that there is a need to promote and support media industry in the state as they act as the eyes and ears of the government.
He also said that constructive criticism from the media helps the government to govern better.
The CM also said that Rs. 3.5 crore budgeted for creating infrastructure facilities of Arunachal Press Club in Itanagar.
The corpus fund for the welfare of working journalists has been increased to Rs 2 crore from Rs 1 crore. The state government has earmarked Rs. 4 crore for completion of Soochna Bhawan.
The state cabinet has also approved formulation of its own advertisement policy.
